Embarkation and disembarkation in ports of call

Both in St Thomas and San Juan we disembarked from deck zero. The whole process is short and easy.
It is possible to take some fruit or a sandwich ashore especially if one does not want to have lunch on board.
While leaving the ship the security just scan the SAIL AND SIGN card.

In order to embark, you must have your ID with a photo and the SAIL AND SIGN card. Your bag is x-rayed and you go through a metal detector gate. Still the embarkation is fast.

Colorful Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico means Rich Port and it is rich when it comes to colors and views.
Everywhere you look, you can see lovely tenaments painted in vibrant colors.
It is really beautiful here. You can go back to the past, to the colonial times while strolling in Old San Juan.

Old San Juan is not big, that is why everyone should experience it on foot. Within walking distance there are two castles: San Cristobal and El Morro Castle, however, the most beautiful are simply the streets and the old houses.

For those a little bit lazier, there are city tours for $10 per person. One can buy various trips directly on the ship or outside the port terminal.

Virgin Islands, St Thomas

Before visiting the Virgin Islands, I was associating the place with a kind of heaven on the earth, a real paradise. Well, the reality is a little bit different.

St Thomas is really lovely, the city and the beach are picturesque, the people are postively crazy but for me and Marcin, Thailand with its Bamboo and Poda Islands are the real paradise.

We spent the whole day in Megans Bay. We took a taxi together with other visitors and went to the other side of the island. The taxi to and from Megans Bay and the Bay access cost $20 per person but it was worth to spend the day that way.

Brunch

Between 8:30 am and 1 pm it is possible to have brunch.
One can have it in Platinum Dining on the third deck.
First, you wait to be seated then you get a menu and order the food you wish to eat.
It is definitely more elegant option than breakfast on Lido deck, but me and Marcin have never tried it.

Leaving Miami

When you leave Miami, you have a kind of escort by the police boat. All smaller ships and boats must wait and give the Carnival priority.
Everybody is excited, there is music and a lot of waving good bye from the passangers waiting on other ships to set sail.

The views when leaving the port are spectacular. You see Miami downtown, Miami beach and a motorway which is almost floating on the water.

Bye, bye Bahamas

Mother nature can be cruel and unpredictable. A tropical storm made some changes to our plans. We had to change the route and skip the Bahamas. I was so depressed but that’s life, besides, safety is the most important.

Elegant night

During cruises which last for 7-8 days, threre are two special nights called elegant nights. One must put on elegant clothes in order to eat in a restaurant. T-shirts, jeans and flip-flops are not accepted.

Podczas rejsow 7-8 dniowych organizowane sa tzw Elegant Nights. Trzeba wowcza zalozyc cos lepszego niz T-shirt i japonki jesli chce sie zjesc w restauracji.

Na statku najlepiej ubrane sa osoby czarnoskore. Szczegolnie czarnoskore Panie sa bardzo zadbane i nosza sie ekstrawagancko. Najgorzej ubieraja sie Japonczycy, ktorzy uwielbiaja dresy i kurtki przeciwdeszczowe. Z BIALAMI Amerykananami jest roznie. Ci z nadwaga nie wygladaja za dobrze, a cala reszta raczej chodzi w spodenkach i T-shirtach lub strojach .

No respect for coins.

It is unbelivable for me that the Americans have no respect for coins and change. I have seen two situations when they dropped some coins on the ground and they did not bother to pick them up.
One will never see anything like that in Poland.
