Will we come back to Australia?

Definitely, yes. We plan to spend more days on the coral reef, we want to visit the Outback as well as Melbourne.

What is positive about Australia?

1. The feeling of safety.

2. Incredible and unique animals.

3. Cleanliness. The cities, streets, public transport, parks are really clean.

4. The variety of really good restaurants and food.

5. Reasonable prices, only taxis seemed expensive for us.

6. The people and their style of life.

In the mornings the cafes were full of people eating breakfast. At lunch time, again people flocked to cafes to have a bite to eat. There was no rush and it was amazing for us.

7. General appearance of people.

Especially in Brisbane the people looked really elegant. The city center was full of handsome men in blue shirts and trousers, women wore elegant skirts, dresses, blouses or trousers. Dark colors like black, dark grey, dark blue were omnipresent. I would describe it as casual elegance and I was very impressed.

What is more, Australians weren’t obese, they were normal or slim.

8. Willingness to help.

Starting from a bus driver and hotel staff finishing with common people, everyone was eager to help or offer advice.

Kaya – coconut jam based on coconut milk, sugar, eggs and a plant called pandan.

A typical breakfast in Singapore consists of toasts with butter and Kaya spread as well as soft boiled eggs. Breakfast is nutritious and really good.

The Singaporeans drink sweet coffee with or without milk which they call Kopi / Kopio.

Not only the Poles are famous for dumplings. In Asia one can find a variety of dumplings with different fillings: savory and sweet. We really loved the Wanton soup which tasted like a typical Polish chicken soup prepared by grandma with thicker noodles and dumplings.

And some Thai, spicy food bought in one of Howkers. Howkers are big food courts with many stalls serving different types of cuisines.

We spent the last night in a hotel named The Great Madras in Little India, Singapore. We wanted to economise so The Great Madras was a relatively cheap option to spend the final night of our trip.

From the very beginning there were some small problems with the hotel.

The hotel was booked through hotels.com. Suddenly, we got the info via e-mail that our hotel The Great Madras is Ghana not in Singapore is waiting for us. Fortunately, the reservation was OK, only the e-mail details were wrong.

While in Singapore, we got to the hotel soon after 10:00 am. We left our bags at the reception and we returned again at about 4:00 pm to check in. (Check in was available from 2:00 pm)

First, the lady and the man at the reception told us that our room was being cleaned and asked us the wait. Unfortunately, there was no room for us, I mean the type of room which we booked.

We got a little stressed out. After a couple of minutes the manager appeared, sat next to us, looked at us with terror and whispered that our room was taken.

We thought: Oh god, really? Is the manager going to accommodate us with his family or his Hindu acquaintances?

Fortunately, he comforted us and offered us the accessibility room for the disabled. Uff.

Breakfast in The Great Madras.

Again, there was some misunderstanding when it comes to hotels.com website.

Well, we paid for a hotel with full breakfast. We almost did not get the room and we were offered simple continental breakfast.

Other portals like expedia.com have more reliable information.

All in all, breakfast was OK. There were toasts, jam, cornflakes, cold milk, coffee, tea and juice as well as a possibility to order egg omelette or warm rice with beans.

Australia cieszy się wielkim powodzeniem wśród Azjatów. Przyjeżdzają tu Japończycy, Chińczycy oraz Koreańczycy. Nie jestem w stanie ich rozpoznać, ale każdy turysta ze skośnymi oczkami wyglada i zachowuje się masakrycznie.

Ubrania to wczesny PRL, koniecznie trzeba założyć jakąś ortalionową kurteczkę na słońce i temperaturę 28-33 stopnie, do tego czapkę lub kapelusz i maseczkę. Zasada numer jeden to mieszaj wzory i kolory. Kwiatki, paski, ciapki współgrają ze sobą rewelacyjnie.

Ludziska są głośne i niewychowane. Bekanie, charkanie, dotykanie jedzenia w barach i odstawianie na miejsce to standard.

Języków obcych nie znają, wszędzie czują się zagubieni, fotografują wszystko co się da: gołąb, kamień, ławka. Ciężko uwierzyć, ale na lotnisku dwóch Azjatów nie potrafiło skorzystać z karty kredytowej i terminalu.

I rodzi się pytanie, jak kraje typu Japonia, Korea czy Chiny to potęgi godpodarcze, skoro ludzie z tamtych miejsc nie potrafią policzyć to trzech???

Jest tylko troszkę powyżej 30 stopni 🙂

Azjatka i Marcin

Australia oferuje niesamowite bogactwo smaków. Można tu zjeść dania ze wszystkich zakątków i kuchni świata.

Nam najbardziej odpowiada kuchnia azjatycka. Zachwyciła nas tutejsza kuchnia chińska, japońska, malezyjska, koreańska i singapurska. Wygląd i smak dań jest niepowtarzalny.

Dziś restauracja koreańska, ale danie typowe dla kuchni japońskiej czyli tzw. BENTO BOX – pudełeczko zawierajace ryż, mięso lub rybę, warzywa i różne dodatki np. tempura, pierożki.

Kilka słów o pierożkach. Typowe polskie pierogi zrobiłyby tu furorę. Restauracje chińskie sprzedają pierożki na sztuki, po 1$. Wczoraj jedliśmy pierożki z nadzieniem z kurczaka oraz pierożki wieprzowo-warzywne. Palce lizać.

Wielkość pierożków chińskich odpowiada przeciętnej wielkości pierogom z Polski.

I jeszcze kilka słów o restauracji i kuchni koreańskiej. Zauważyliśmy, że restauracje koreańskie bardzo ciekawie serwują potrawy grillowane. W stolikach znajdują się grille, nad grillami są specjalne wyciągi pochłaniające dym i zapach i potrawa grilluje się na naszych oczach.

Zalety transportu w Queensland oraz w Nowej Południowej Walii

1. wygodny, czysty, punktualny, bezpieczny

2. rożne części miasta są świetnie skomunikowane

3. różnorodny: do wyboru mamy autobusy, pociągi, tramwaje (w przypadku Sydney), miejskie promy oraz taksówki

4. ekologiczny: duża cześć autobusów jeździ na gaz

5. wygodny system kart, możliwość kupna pojedynczych biletów

Minusy transportu publicznego.

1. wysokie opłaty

2. transport publiczny nie kursuje późno w nocy i we wczesnych godzinach porannych np. o 3 rano.

3. Jeśli chodzi o taksówki to trzeba liczyć 2$ za każdy kilometr.

Wspaniała opcja aby poruszać sie po Sydney to pociągi.
